Rebalancing Indonesia's International image: A scenario analysis of structural dimensional imbalance across socio-cultural, economic, and governance perceptions
The View of Indonesia Survey is an important instrument for measuring international public perceptions of Indonesia and evaluating diplomacy across 128 Indonesian overseas missions. The 2025 survey reveals an uneven national image, with the socio-cultural dimension scoring 4.50, compared with 4.11 for the economic dimension and 4.09 for governance. This paper recommends improving mission performance indicators, strengthening interagency coordination, developing a verified data-based diplomatic narrative, and engaging diaspora networks and research institutions to reinforce credibility. The strategy will be implemented in three phases over 36 months to establish an integrated public diplomacy framework. These measures aim to strengthen Indonesia’s consistent international image, enhance global credibility, and support the diplomatic objectives of the 2025–2029 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN).
