Defense cooperation between Indonesia and African Countries: Strategies and policy options
This paper explores the defense cooperation between Indonesia and African countries, analyzing strategic policy options under Indonesia’s evolving foreign policy framework, particularly in light of the transition from President Joko Widodo to President-elect Prabowo Subianto. The paper emphasizes the importance of defense cooperation in enhancing Indonesia’s geopolitical influence, aligning with the country's 2045 Vision of becoming a global leader.
Based on the analysis, the defense cooperation could be taken in the context of bilateral and regional cooperation. For bilateral cooperation, options of cooperation will be joint exercise, counter-terrorism training, staff exchange, and military assistance. While for regional cooperation, the options will be military assistance and training.
