Three Kingdoms is a classic Chinese historical novel attributed to Luo Guanzhong, set during the late Eastern Han dynasty and the subsequent Three Kingdoms period of Chinese history (2nd–3rd century AD). Volume III continues the epic narrative of political intrigue, warfare, and shifting alliances among the rival states of Wei, Shu, and Wu. This English translation by Moss Roberts presents the concluding stages of the struggle for power, emphasizing themes of loyalty, strategy, heroism, and the rise and fall of dynasties. The novel is regarded as one of the Four Great Classical Novels of Chinese literature.
