Liao Shi
Liao Shi (History of the Liao Dynasty) is one of the official dynastic histories included in the Twenty-Four Histories of China. Compiled under the supervision of Toqto’a during the Yuan dynasty, the work records the political, social, military, and cultural developments of the Liao dynasty (907–1125), established by the Khitan people. The text provides detailed imperial annals, biographies, treatises, and institutional descriptions that document the rise of the Khitan state, its governance structure, and its interactions with neighboring dynasties such as the Song and Jin. This volume is an essential primary source for researchers studying medieval Northeast Asian history, nomadic empires, and Sino-Khitan relations.
